Jeff Antoniuk Jazz Masterclasses //05.02.2024// 7:30-10:30pm

Join us for THREE great jazz bands this evening, under the direction of saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk. Jazz Band Masterclass, now in its 19th year of operation, is how adult amateur and semi-pro jazz musicians in the DC/MD/VA area find each other, get together to play, and learn how to dig deeper and develop their jazz skills. Started by saxophonist and educator Jeff Antoniuk, the JBM program is comprised of 16 different jazz small groups, each of which meet twice a month throughout the year.  Jeff and fellow JBM faculty members Steve Herberman (guitar) and David Jernigan (bass) are joined by Guest Artists throughout the year. JazzWire (www.JazzWire.net) is their online platform, which has members in over 25 countries around the world, making Jazz Band Masterclass a global leader in jazz education. JBM’s sister summer and winter Summit Workshops (www.JazzWireSummit.com) have welcomed over 1,500 participants over the years, and include faculty such as Michael Bowie, Helen Sung, Chris Potter, Terrell Stafford, Mike Stern, Ingrid Jensen, Paul Bollenback and many more.

Dave Kline & Tim Kaine//05.09.2024// 7:30-10:30pm

Following their smash performances to packed audiences at Mr Henry’s in 2022 and 2023, Dave Kline Band’s sequel on 9 May 2024 from 7:30-10:30 pm will be another epic groove:

Senator Tim Kaine joins us on vocals and harmonica for a mix of swing, blues, rock, jazz, country, originals and contemporary favorites.

“I love your musical universe…it’s so fresh and creative.” – Chick Corea

Dave Kline Band’s most recent album charted at #1 on the jazz charts for 16 weeks.

Washington Post: “Kline, a violinist, essentially plays any kind of music where jamming is permissible. Funk, bluegrass, calypso, Brazilian jazz…earthy stuff. Kline is an improvised musician and that’s just about the size of it. But improvise he does, and he’s got serious chops. Beyond jazz, but with definite grasp of its core ideals, and able to swing and groove with the best of them.”

All About Jazz: “Violinist Dave Kline is pushing the contemporary voice of strings to new heights, while maintaining a   sophisticated yet approachable city sound.”

Don’t miss this combination of beautiful melodies, foot tapping rhythms, jaw dropping virtuosity, high energy drive, and artistic ambience. The band will consist of Dave Kline electric violin, Lynn Veronneau vocals, Buddy Speir electric guitar, Kurt Kratch bass and Olaolu Ajibade drums. And of course Tim Kaine on vocals and harmonica!

Capital City Voices and Friends//05.16.2024// 7:30-10:30pm

Led by Alison Crockett, The Capital City Voices is an established, premier jazz choir that has been delighting DC-
area audiences for years and is housed at Levine School of music. Capital City Voices at Levine stays in the tradition of
great vocal jazz groups, such as Manhattan Transfer and Take 6, but with a style uniquely its own. Mix in a bit of R&B
and jazz with a touch of gospel, and you have a recipe for a rewarding (and fun!) vocal experience.

This performance will be showcasing the choir, individual members and singing friends who have worked with or sung with the choir previously. We’ll be singing selections of jazz from Ellington and King Pleasure to selections from the great American Songbook. Capital City Voices at Levine welcomes most levels of singers, from beginners to advanced vocalists, semi-professionals, and music teachers. Musical arrangements reflect classic American and Brazilian jazz styles, and at each session, singers learn something new about music, jazz, and their own voices.
